It’s no secret that Rickie Fowler has been struggling ever since his last win in 2019 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Fowler has been trying to fix his swing and get back into the winners circle for quite sometime now but he may have just finally figured it out.

After shooting a 6-under 66 on the Torrey Pines North Course Wednesday, Fowler addressed the media about his new swing thought.

He is trying to be more deliberate with his swing by slowing down his tempo and rhythm. He is trying to smooth out his swing.

Fowler said:

“I felt like I was swinging at about 60% and took about three hours to get to the top of my backswing.”

Fowler has been working with his swing coach John Tillery, who also coaches PGA TOUR winners Kevin Kisner, Scott Brown, Brandt Snedeker and last weeks winner Hudson Swafford, in order to get himself back up to what he once was.

By being more deliberate and swinging with a smoother tempo Fowler noticed his numbers drop off a little bit which is something he is perfectly fine with.

Fowler added:

“I’m not necessarily getting full numbers, I’m not trying to; I’m trying to stay a bit more controlled. So for now, I just need to make sure the club is at least in a little better spot and everything’s working together a little bit better. I’ll be able to create more speed once things feel a little bit more comfortable, but just trying to make sure we are doing things right.”

All the die hard Rickie Fowler fans can let out a sigh of relief knowing that Fowler is still dedicated to getting his game back to what it once was. Although this is a small step, it is very positive and hopefully it will give Fowler the confidence he has been lacking for the past few years.

Hopefully this new swing thought will help Fowler out today as he takes on the challenging South Course at Torrey Pines.

After all, the PGA TOUR is more fun to watch when Rickie is playing his best out there.

What are you predictions for Rickie Fowler this year?
