STYLE: adidas Releases Limited Edition CodeChaos “Summer of Golf”

What could certainly be described as a year of new beginnings, golf, in particular, has experienced a mass “rebirth” in light of the fact that it is one of very few social distancing sports.

And to celebrate this fresh start, adidas Golf is releasing a limited edition Summer of Golf pair of their CodeChaos shoes.

Adidas’ CodeChaos shoes have already made a name for themselves, becoming recognized as one of the most comfortable, high performing spikeless golf shoes on the market. Indeed, the CodeChaos’ popularity has led to adidas releasing several limited editions, including the Nations Pack that celebrates the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, South Korea and Japan, with each model incorporating a color scheme derived from their respective flag.

As alluded to above, the Summer of Golf CodeChaos’ tie-dye coloration takes inspiration from the 1967 “Summer of Love” phenomenon that took place in San Francisco and was originally intended to commemorate the locale for the 2020 PGA Championship, hosted by TPC Harding Park (San Francisco, CA). However, everything quickly changed in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic that impacted everyone in the world.

At the heart of the colorful tie-dyed footwear the words ‘Summer of Golf’ are emblazoned on the tongue. Clearly a play on words in homage to the historic events of 1967, it has since evolved to become a pronouncement to golfers everywhere in 2020.

“When we designed this shoe roughly 18 months ago, we clearly had no idea there would be a global pandemic that would impact all sports including our own,” said Masun Denison, global footwear director, adidas Golf. “We knew that adding those three words on the tongue would make this shoe special, but those three words mean so much more now that we are actually able to get outdoors and play the game we love. It’ll definitely be a memorable summer in the history of our sport.”

The limited edition Summer of Golf CodeChaos ($170) will be available on the first official day of summer, June 20th, at adidas.com (8 a.m. PT in the United States), and at select retailers worldwide.
