Tiger Woods Drops Out of Two More Events

After much hype over the return of Tiger Woods, there has been yet another setback in his comeback attempt.  Today it was announced that Woods would not be able to compete in two upcoming events because of back spasms.

Woods can’t seem to get over the back problems that have been plaguing him of late as he was forced to leave his round at the Dubai Desert Classic because of the recurring back spasms.  Now, Woods will be dropping out of his highly anticipated appearances at the Genesis Open and the Honda Classic.

Even before his back injury reemerged, Woods looked shaky in his return to the PGA TOUR.  In his first event in over 17 months, Woods missed the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open and in his first round at Dubai, Woods shot a mediocre 77, five over par.

This is obviously disappointing for Tiger as he finally appeared confident and ready to take back the Tour by storm.  He stated in a release that “My doctors have advised me not to play the next two weeks, to continue my treatment and to let my back calm down.  This is not what I was hoping for or expecting.”

These two events were supposed to help Woods ease back into the game and prepare him for The Masters, where Tiger looked to get one more major closer to Jack Niklaus’ record for major victories.  Now that the back injury has plagued him for a second time, however, that event may be in doubt.  And even if Tiger does play, who knows how effective he actually could be.

Hopefully, this will prove to be just a small setback for Tiger and his back spasms won’t turn into a more serious problem that costs him any more valuable time on the course.
