TWO FOR ONE: Jack’s Place Hosting Double-Header in July
COVID-19 has forced the PGA Tour to reschedule most of their season. Some events have been cancelled all together, and others have been moved to new dates later in the year. One event rescheduled is the Masters, which is now set to be played in November.
A memo was sent out to PGA Tour players alerting them of yet another schedule change coming in July. Last week, the John Deere Classic annual event at TPC Deere Run was cancelled, leaving a hole in the schedule from July 9th-12th. This vacancy has now been filled with an unnamed tournament. What we do know is the host: Muirfield Village, famously known as Jack’s place. What makes this schedule change odd, is that the Memorial Tournament is to be played the following week.
BREAKING: Muirfield Village Golf Club will host a new one-time TOUR event July 6-12, sponsored by Workday.
The Memorial Tournament Presented by Nationwide will be played at Muirfield Village the following week (July 13-19).

There is little information about the new tournament known by the public, aside from the 156 man field size.
This is a smart move by the PGA Tour. By putting these tournaments back-to-back at the same venue, the travel needed to be done by the players is limited. With COVID-19 still being a main concern for the Tour, having them stay in the same city for 2 weeks in a row reduces risk extremely.
The Memorial has been a Tour staple since 1976, but in 2020, it’s going to have to share the magnificent Muirfield Village.
