Xander Schauffele Details Three-Day Drinking Binge After Open Championship Victory
Xander Schauffele detailed the time he spent from winning the Open Championship 11 days ago to arriving in Paris to defend his Olympic gold medal from three years ago.
Most of that time wasn’t spent preparing for golf at the 2024 Paris Olympics; rather, it was spent celebrating his second major win of the year followed by a lengthy period of recovery.
Schauffele told reporters in France:
“I don’t really drink much alcohol. So three days in a row drinking was quite a feat for myself, and the recovery…that was also slow.”
His interview after winning the Claret Jug suggests that many beverages were consumed from it.
“I just can’t wait to drink out of it.” 😂

After the three-day party, he did play some golf in Portugal while vacationing with fellow U.S. Olympian Collin Morikawa and their respective partners.
“It was really chill, as chill as I would have wanted it, especially after a really tough stretch.”
Schaffele didn’t miss a beat in his first around at Le Golf National, posting a -6 in the opening round.
