Groove Your Move: The Connector by Sure-Golf
Playing Through: Chances are you’ve heard how your golf swing is most reliable when it’s technically sound, and not—like most amateurs—based on timing. The Connector, by Sure-Golf, does that by promoting proper synchronization throughout the whole swing. Regardless if you want to work on putting, wedge play or full swing, The Connector promotes powerful, consistent impact by forcing you to use your big muscles in harmony with one another.
I’m willing to bet that there’s enough training aids out there that (if you were crazy enough) you could use a different one every day of the year. And that wouldn’t be an issue if it wasn’t for the fact that every training aid isn’t going to support whatever swing issues you’re dealing with. Indeed, some training aids can be “cheated,” while others might, inadvertently, create new swing flaws or shortcomings. In other words, there are very few training aids that have widespread application.

The Connector by Sure-Golf is, however, one of those few training aids—largely due to its simplicity—that allows it to empower every swing out there.
Made famous late last year when Rory McIlroy was spotted warming up with one at the BMW PGA Championship, the Connector is designed to promote proper arm structure that requires you to sync up your whole swing, no matter if you’re working on “touch and feel” wedge shots or full swing iron, wood or even driver swings.

One of the biggest things I suffer for is letting my body get out of sync. I have two little kids and spend a majority of my work week sitting in a chair; I have very limited time to practice, except for when I try to make time to do speed training. Consequently, my swing can get (very) out of sync and become heavily dependent on timing. This is not, however, a recipe for success or—more importantly—good, enjoyable golf. To the contrary, this is a formula for frustrating golf, as I frequently find myself struggling on the first few holes of my weekend rounds while I attempt to get things back in sync (or as close as I can get). In sum, my scoring suffers as I have the all too frequent tale of two different nines.
The Connector, fortunately, can quickly mitigate my bad habits and get me back on track. It doesn’t require a special club or any attachments; you can easily grab any of your gamer clubs, position the Connector between your forearms and, after confirming you’re lined up correctly, take swings with or without a golf ball. The simplicity of the Connector, therefore, makes it perfect for pre-round warm-ups on the range (as well as more in-depth, dedicated practice sessions).

Ball flight is the best feedback a golfer can have, so the Connector really shines when you hit shots while using it, which (again) you can do with each and every club in your bag. Regardless of whether you’re working on 20 yard chip shots, 70 yard pitch shots, 160 yard approach irons or tee shots, the Connector can be used with any of your gamer clubs to get your swing back in sync.
It, therefore, shouldn’t surprise anyone that the Connector has gotten a LOT of love (and abuse from me). It was a favorite during my off-season and early season rounds, and became my go-to training aid when things got off the rails or before important rounds (club tournaments, golf trips, etc.).
But as mentioned above, the Connector’s beauty is in its simplicity. There’s no special attachments, cables, wires or anything that needs to be adjusted. Just as easily as you pick up a club, you can pick up the Connector, take a few swings and put it back down to try and successfully replicate the feel—the true test to confirm whether or not the training aid is helping you improve.
Similarly, the Connector has gotten a lot of use with putting. While I’ll reserve the full review on my L.A.B. Golf DF3 for a later date, I’ve made it a priority to get my putting stroke technically sound. By using the Connector to roll the rock has helped eliminate inconsistencies—by taking my arms out of the swing—and promote consistency and better speed control—by forcing me to putt with shoulder rotation.
There was only one bit of feedback / constructive criticism I had on The Connector, and that was reinforcing the area around the alignment rods to help make it more resistant to normal wear and tear. Fortunately, Sure-Golf is a company that welcomes customer feedback, since the updated version incorporates this exact change:

Version 2 (Left) v. Version 1 (Right)
So with that said, I say that the current iteration of the Connector isn’t just Sure Golf’s best, it’s also one of the best training aids that you should (immediately) add to your pre-season toolkit. Indeed, with the Masters and unofficial start of golf season just weeks away, the Connector can help you get your swing structured and in mid-season sync fast.
