Environmentally and Golfer-Friendly Footwear: TRUE linkswear ECO Knits

If you’ve ever heard of Greta Thunberg or Al Gore, then you’re probably aware that the world is ending because human beings have done everything to contribute to the global warming climate crisis (despite the fact that it felt like it was in the mid-40s during the PGA Show in January earlier this year, but I digress).

Regardless of whether you drive a V8 pickup or a hybrid to the golf course (or even drive at all), golfers have a vested interest in protecting the environment (see: golf courses). Indeed, one of the big focuses in the 2020 Distance Insights Report was the environmental impact that these “excessive length” champion golf courses have on the surrounding area.

Fortunately, TRUE linkswear has found a way to save both the environment and golf with the sustainable, ultra-light ECO Knit. With an upper section knit from 100% post-consumer recycled yarn, the ECO Knit is the first of its kind, sustainable golf footwear ready for, well, everything.

Picking up where recent TRUE models, such as the Knits and TL-01s, the ECO Knits are designed with golfers and the environment equally to ensure that you can Enjoy the Walk while being Fore the Planet.

Indeed, the ECO Knits feature TRUE’s proven spike-free tread pattern that provides plenty of traction on the course, while remaining equally comfortable and durable to wear off the course. In fact, where the TL-01s quickly became a go-to spring/fall shoe for me to wear to work and walk around NYC when I needed something casual and comfortable, I fully expect that the ECO Knit will become my go-to summer shoe when I need something that looks nice, is comfortable to walk around in and will help keep my feet nice and cool.

And to help make sure the ECO Knits look equally appropriate on and off the course, TRUE will be making them available in three, coastal-inspired colors: Obsidian Black, Stone Grey and Tropic Blue.

While the Obsidian Black certainly gives off a more professional vibe (that probably works great with shorts or jeans), the Stone Grey and Tropic Blue appear to be perfect options if you’re heading to the beach and want to squeeze in a few holes at the local Par-3 or mini golf course.

Regardless of what color you decide to go with, your feet (in addition to the environment) will thank you as the ECO Knits are not only super breathable, but also ultra-lightweight. Weighing merely 7.4 ounces, the ECO Knits are TRUE’s lightest shoe and, as a result, help you avoid unnecessary exhaustion from walking around in the heat with heavy golf shoes and/or sneakers.

I was lucky enough to be blessed with a pair of the ECO Knits in the Tropic Blue at the PGA Show. Walking around from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. can really wear your feet out. My feet thank me immediately after putting the ECO Knits on after switching from sneakers to a pair of shoes that were significantly lighter and provided some fresh air.

On the course, the ECO Knit has been equally impressive. Although the weather’s only provided a handful of golf-friendly days here in the NYC-area thus far, the few courses that have been open have limited golfers to cart path only or walking.

Fortunately, walking with the ECO Knits allows you to truly enjoy the time you spend on the golf course. Indeed, these shoes are so light that it makes you feel guilty for not carrying a Sunday caddie bag. As a result, you never feel like your feet are weighing you down, even when you’re walking 7,000+ yards.

Furthermore, once you’re done hiking all over the golf course and chasing down your errant shots, the ECO Knits can easily be worn from the 18th green straight into your car or into the clubhouse/closest bar. As mentioned, the aggressive, spike-free tread pattern provides ample grip on the course, but it also allows you to walk around and wear them off the course without fear of clicking as your walk or sliding on a tiled surface.

The ECO Knits can best be described in a single sentence: the perfect golf shoe for the environment and your feet. At the incredible price point of just $99, there’s no excuse to not give back to the Earth and wear something that’s Fore the Planet. And if that wasn’t enough, it’s also great just to grab a pair of liberating, lightweight shoes that allow you to Enjoy the Walk, regardless of where you’re actually walking.
