LIV Teams Lands Apparel and Equipment Sponsorships

While there haven’t been any developments on the status of the PGA Tour-DP World Tour-PIF combination, LIV has been making waves with numerous announcements in recent weeks.

What started with Reebok announcing that it would be partnering with Bryson DeChambeau and Crushers GC was quickly followed with LIV announcing that YouTube’s most popular golfer, Rick Shiels, would be an official influencer of the alternative golf league.

But neither LIV nor the various teams haven’t taken their foot off the gas pedal.

Earlier today, Ian Poulter’s Majesticks GC announced its new apparel sponsorship with Castore Sportswear, a British premium sportswear company with a stronger presence in European football, cricket, rugby, and Formula One.

But looking good is only part of the equation, and the missing link, thus far, has been the lack of equipment sponsors on LIV. But that, too, may be coming to an end.

Over the weekend, rumors broke that Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII may be the first team to land an equipment partner with Callaway.

For those who may not remember, Callaway pulled Rahm away from TaylorMade back in early 2021. He immediately repaid them in droves with a U.S. Open victory in 2021, a Masters victory in 2023, and a slew of other professional victories across that time frame. As a result, Callaway and Rahm extended their partnership during the summer of 2023.

However, Callaway didn’t anticipate that a few months later, Rahm would announce that he’d be joining LIV and captaining a new team.

And since being presented with those opportunities, it seems that Rahm has been the best at “stewarding his ship.” Indeed, Rahm has followed up with a number of strong showings on the LIV and DP World Tours and, in the process, is looking to create additional value for his LIV team.

It’s worth noting that if this comes to fruition, there may be some obstacles, including the fact that teammate Tyrrell Hatton is currently partnered with PING. But if this were to materialize, it would be one of the more significant developments for LIV in its brief existence.
