Nike Releases Open Championship Inspired “Car-Nasty” Shoes

There is a ton of excitement surrounding The Open Championship this week and there is sure to be some sweet merchandise available. Nike is already kicking off Open style apparel, with the release of some new shoes.
The Open is set to be played at Carnoustie this week and that seems to inspire the name of their new shoes, the “Car-Nasty” edition. Carnoustie is known to give golfers headaches with its rough and often nasty style,so the name is a nice nod to the course. But the shoes have a lot more Scottish history incorporated in them outside of the name.
Nike tried to create the shoe as a way to represent a traditional Scottish kilt. The new kicks are black and feature several plaid patterns around them as would be seen on the typical kilt.
The best feature of the shoe, however, is the word “Nasty” written in big, red letters on the bottom, intertwined with the spikes.

While these shoes are definitely excel with regards to style, they also have some nice comfort perks. Like the typical golf shoe, the Car Nasties have plastic spikes on the bottom but also feature a slick design that includes a quick-pull strap and tab. This feature makes it easy to adjust the shoe during a round if you’re feeling any discomfort.
If you want to reach your inner Scottsman and get your hands on a pair of these shoes, you’re going to have to be quick on the trigger. Nike announced that they are only making a limited number of these shoes and they will officially go on sale on Thursday, the first day of The Open.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they sell out on the first day so make sure you have your wallet ready while you’re watching the first round.

While Nike has gotten out of the golf club business, the Car Nasties show that they haven’t lost their flare for golf. I’m definitely excited to see what other shoes they have in store for fans for the rest of the year.
