SNEAK PEEK: New Palace x adidas Golf Collection
Chances are you were watching the 2020 Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club this weekend, especially with Tiger donning his infamous Sunday Red. And while Tiger’s performance wasn’t anything noteworthy (don’t worry, the defending Masters champion has just over 50 days to get ready), something else really stuck out:

Palace, a London-based skateboard shop and streetwear label, and adidas Golf have teamed up to release globally on February 21, 2020, a unique product line that aligns with adidas’s recent exploration into lifestyle and footwear collections that are looking to distinguish themselves from the traditional golf stereotypes.

With respect to the Palace collaboration, which features a selection of polos, pullovers and shoes and comes in vibrant colors including orange and lime green, immediately noticeably was the collarless polo that appears more like a lightweight soccer jersey than a “golf” polo.
While this particular piece might not be well-received by the starter at the (stuffy and outdated) country club, the shirt (it feels too strange calling it a polo absent the color) looks like the perfect lightweight and breathable option for some casual vacation golf or rounds at your favorite public track during peak summer heat.
And if you still want something that’s lively but conforms with the four-corner of the club’s member requirements handbook, the vibrant lime green polo (which also appears to come in white) features a more traditional design with colors that turn the volume up to 13.
For when things get a bit chilly, long and short sleeve pullovers appear to be on the way and will come in bright orange/red and white, two-tone colors.

Although nothing is confirmed about the Palace x adidas Golf collection yet, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to presume that both pullovers are made with water and wind resistant materials.
Similarly, the short sleeve Palace Jacket features a white color base with a red checkered pattern on the front and a progressive fading lime green coloration on the vented back section. For me, the tasteful placement of “adidas” on the sleeves and “PALACE” on the zipper really make this stand out.

The Palace Pants also finds that tasteful balance between traditional golf and modern streetwear. Starting with the elastic waistband, the pants immediately ditch the need for a belt and, as a result, should be a bit more comfortable on the waist. In addition to the commonplace back pockets, the Pants also feature a front zipper leg pocket on the front.
And in the event you’re wearing your Palace Golf 2.0 Shoes and want to show them off, the Palace Pants also are equipped with bungee-adjustable cuffs with ankle zips that allow you to let them hang free or tighten for more of a jogger look.

Finally, the golf shoe appears to have the strongest inspiration from both brands. While founded around adidas’ BOOST foam and TPU cage to provide that ideal combination of comfort, traction and stability, Palace injected some style with the perforated white leather design that surrounds the signature Three Stripe graphic, with “Palace” stamped in gold foil.

As briefly mentioned above, a lot of the buzz surrounding this new release. That said, there appears to be some indications of other, additional pieces, such as the pants worn by DJ and a glove, that may also be coming to market.
