Thomas Bjorn is Getting a Commemorative Ryder Cup Tattoo
For American golf fans, watching the Ryder Cup may have been hard to stomach after the U.S. team got blown out by the Europeans. And while Team U.S.A. weeps, and bickers, the European Team is having a blast.
After winning the Ryder Cup in Paris by a score of 17 1/2 to 10 1/12, the European team has been flying high and celebrating hard. Nobody is celebrating more than Thomas Bjorn, however, who was able to lead Europe to its huge victory, avoiding back to back losses to the U.S.
How did Bjorn inspire his team you ask? Well, he gave them a little bit more motivation.
In a post-victory press conference, Ian Poulter was asked what Bjorn did to help the team play so well. Poulter mentioned that he allowed the team to relax and understand his players personally and professionally. But Poulter also said that he provided some extra motivation. Justin Rose had to inform the press later that Poulter was referring to a tattoo that Bjorn has promised to get.
Bjorn already won’t be forgetting the monumental win anytime soon but just in case, he wants that memory on his body forever. Apparently, before the tournament, Bjorn promised the team he would get the final score tattooed on his body if they won. Well, that may have been the only poor decision that Bjorn made this week as now he has to live up to that promise.
And where will Bjorn get that tattoo? Well, we’ll let him answer that one:
“Let me put it this way, it’s going to go on a part that only (my girlfriend) Grace will see,” he said. “I might have to send (the team) a picture, well, then you’ll all see it as well, I guess.”
Now that is a photo leak that I can’t wait to see.
So while it may have been a disappointing week for the Americans in Paris, the Europeans are still riding high. And with Bjorn’s great success, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him involved with the team again so he can add another score to that tattoo.
