EQUIPMENT: Roll it Smooth & Straight with SWINGALIGN’s Goal Post

The importance of having an on-target starting line and putting a quality strike on the ball cannot be understated. Indeed, having bad alignment and poor strike at the top and bottom of your bag can, legitimately, kill your score; nobody likes sitting 3-off the tee on more than 1 occasion per round, or 4 putting.

SWINGALIGN’s Goal Post looks to help cure these issues with your flatstick. The simple, lightweight putting gates and alignment attachment are designed to help you find the center of the putter face (which is huge for speed control and developing a consistent role) and stay on target with your gamer putter.  This is great because while some training aids require you to use some club you’ll never put in play, the Goal Post goes right onto your flatstick, regardless if  it’s off-the-shelf or customized with an aftermarket shaft or modified grip, you’re using to take some money from your friends.

As you can see, install and use is super simple, which is great since that means you can easily put the Goal Post on and roll a few putts before going to bed, during a commercial break or on the practice green before the 1st tee, and then take it back off to practice without or play a round.

Additionally, the Goal Post is, as mentioned, incredibly lightweight, so it won’t affect your putting stroke or feel whether it’s on or off (meaning there’s actual on-course transferability). Plus, the Goal Post can easily fit in a side pocket of your golf bag, meaning you actually can use it to warm up before rounds (and with significantly less interference to other golfers, unlike the Pros and their 30 feet of rope across the practice green).

After using the Goal Post over the past several weeks, often just 10 minutes at a time, has genuinely improved my putting. Gone are the knee knockers, just simply line up to the hole and pull the trigger. Likewise, long range lag putts are significantly closer to the target. And yes, while I can’t be Tiger-perfect, my “bad” strikes and alignment have been significantly reduced and less egregious just by using the Goal Post to roll a few putts and groove a quality, smooth stroke with my flatstick.

Sadly, the only drawback I found with the Goal Post is that the current iteration works perfectly with blade and cavity-back mallets (like the Futura X5), but doesn’t appear compatible with a full-fledged mallet (like a Spider). Hopefully SWINGALIGN can make the necessary adjustments so the Goal Post can be used any putter model.

Your flatstick accounts for approximately 40% of your score, so a slight improvement can result in a meaningful decrease in your scoring, whether you’re trying to break in to the 90s, 80s, or even 70s.

And at just $40, the Goal Post cost less than a box of premium balls, and it’ll likely have a longer lasting impact on your game too. Indeed, unlike the other 13 clubs in your bag, everybody can improve on putting without making drastic changes to your setup, equipment and/or fitness.  So make sure to start doing your short game a favor, grab a Goal Post, and have your best putting performance in 2021.
