Fitness Friday – Pre-Round Warm-Up Stretches for Golfers
Kirk Adams, Director of Fitness at Golf & Body NYC, is back again this week answering another question from our Golf Podcast Facebook Group for this week’s Fitness Friday segment.
Here Kirk shows us some quick stretches to do as part of our pre-round routine.

For more, here’s Kirk’s detailed explanation of this week’s fitness routine from the Facebook group:
“Today, we’re talking about a pre-round warmup. Adam C. asked for some stretches to do before he plays.
A good warmup is probably one of the biggest things professional players do better than amateurs before they play. We’re all usually rushed for time, but a good warmup can not only save shots, but also reduce the chances of causing pain or injury while we play.
How many of you don’t feel “loose” until you’re most of the way through the front 9? How many shots do you think that is costing you each round? A good warmup, even before hitting the range, can have your body ready to play your best from hole 1 and save you a couple shots each round.
A good warmup can also make sure your body is prepared for the stresses of the golf swing and walking a tough course for 4-5 hours. This is especially important if you didn’t have much time to workout during the week, sit a lot at work and at home, and had a long ride in the car before getting to the course.
So next time you’re planning to play, get to the course 10 minutes earlier, try this warmup program and then hit the range. Let me know if it has you feeling better on the first tee!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I’ll be back next Fitness Friday. Let me know if you have any golf fitness questions I can answer in a future video!”
