TGL has stalled out since its announcement over a year ago after the collapse of the SoFi arena in Florida, the withdrawal of Jon Rahm, the further injuries of Tiger Woods and the busier schedule for the PGA Tour players. TMRW sports have announced its inaugural season launch for the first three Tuesdays of January 2025, kicking off Tuesday, Jan. 7 in prime time on ESPN and ESPN+ in the U.S.

In TGL’s matches, teams begin by teeing off from real grass tee boxes, playing virtual holes projected onto a massive 3,000-square-foot screen. This screen, 20 times larger than a standard golf simulator, provides a unique experience.

As teams approach within approximately 50 yards, they transition to live action within TGL’s GreenZone, a cutting-edge short game complex spanning 22,475 square feet. The GreenZone features advanced technology such as a 41-yard-wide turntable that alters the green’s orientation and motorized actuators beneath the synthetic putting surface, creating dynamic challenges for players.

TGL’s technological advancements extend beyond the gameplay itself, with every shot broadcast live, teams adhering to a 40-second shot clock, and all players equipped with microphones. Additionally, advanced shot data is delivered to enhance viewer experience.

The inaugural season of TGL is strategically timed to coincide with ESPN’s coverage of the NFL Playoffs and the College Football Playoff, leveraging the network’s extensive reach and viewership during January. TGL’s matches are scheduled to air on key dates following high-profile football games, maximizing exposure to sports fans.

Mike McCarley, founder and CEO of TMRW Sports, expressed gratitude for the partnership with SoFi, emphasizing their shared vision of innovation within traditional institutions:

“As construction proceeds on SoFi Center, we’re eager to introduce sports fans to TGL as we focus on the league’s debut this coming January.”

SoFi CEO Anthony Noto echoed this sentiment, highlighting the alignment between TGL’s tech-forward approach to golf and SoFi’s mission to empower individuals through digital banking and financial services:

“Investing in sports like our partnerships with the NFL and the NBA has proven unequivocally valuable, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with TMRW Sports to bring the SoFi Center and TGL to life.”

As construction progresses on the SoFi Center, anticipation builds for the launch of TGL’s inaugural season in January 2025, promising an exciting fusion of sports and technology. The teams and players are listed below:
