If you’ve been paying even a tiny bit of attention to golf this year, you know that ever since the PGA TOUR returned, there’s been a ton of talk surrounding Bryson DeChambeau’s bulk up and powerful play-style. Well, he just gave everyone a little bit more to talk about.

Bryson has been taking a different approach to golf ever since the end of 2019. He’s been focusing on getting bigger, getting stronger, and being able to just obliterate golf balls. By his logic, he believes that if he can shorten a hole, it makes it easier for him to score low numbers. And it’s worked so far, as he’s won the 3M Open and the U.S. Open.

While those are some incredibly awesome feats for him this year, he’s still adding to his mystique. DeChambeau has decided to take a few weeks off in preparation for the Masters later this month, really trying to hone in his craft of spanking balls down the course. And while he’s been off, he’s been updating everyone on his progress, which is what has everyone buzzing.

Before going off the PGA TOUR for a bit, Bryson said his goal was to work with a 48′ driver and to try and get a 215 mph ball speed before he tees off at Augusta. Well, he’s getting close to that mark. DeChambeau posted a picture over the weekend of a stat tracker that showed he had a drive at 211 mph that carried over 400 yards. That’s just insane strength.

Now there are a few reasons to be skeptical of if the 400-yard carry was all thanks to him. If you look closely at the picture, you’ll see there was a 20 mph wind at his back that may have helped. But even if that’s the case, Bryson added in his caption that he wasn’t even using the 48′ driver that he’s hoping to bust out. If that’s truly the case, Bryson could be hitting absolute bombs that approach those numbers at Augusta National in a few weeks.

Love him or hate him, you have to admit that Bryson’s bulk up game is mighty impressive and leading to wins. And if he’s able to pull of his second major victory of the year with this strategy, many others may start to follow in Bryson’s footsteps.
