Reflecting On Tiger Woods’ World Golf Hall of Fame Induction

On 3/9/2022 in a room filled with friends, family and colleagues from the wild world of golf Eldrick “Tiger” Woods officially took his place in the World Golf Hall of fame. We knew for years this was inevitable. We knew he would be there one day and thanks to a rule change a few years ago, we didn’t have to wait for Tigers 55th birthday to see him inducted.

The moment steered off with a fun and lighthearted story from David Feherty. A story that I’ve never heard about Tiger hitting a shot he had no business hitting. After getting the crowd warmed up, Tigers daughter Sam came onstage to introduce her father.

Her speech was well written and it’s clear she has her fathers confidence. As a father I could feel his pride radiating through my cars radio as I listened on thanks to Sirius PGA Tour Radio.

Her introduction gave us a look at the man, not the mythological legend we’ve come to know. This was the perfect build up for Tiger to come onto the stage and give his speech.

I’ve read articles, watched documentaries and listened to countless stories about Tigers life and I never heard that story about the Skins games for quarters. His speech had a mix of heart felt thank you’s, painful memories and jokes that pulled off every shot in the bag. Every person who helped him along the way was recognized to the best of his abilities. Thousands of people have impacted his life along the way.

Those people made him who he is today. This one man alone has impacted millions around the world. I may be a little old to have sports hero’s still but when it comes to the game of golf, Tiger still reigns supreme.

Ed started playing golf when he was 18. It started out as a hobby and something he liked to do but by 2014 it had turned into a full blown obsession. Since then Ed has committed himself to improving and learning more about the game. He doesn’t work in the golf industry, he’s not a teaching pro, he’s a guy who just loves the game and enjoys sharing his thoughts with others who share the same passion.
